Tackling Inequalities Impact

We’re committed to supporting good work by ensuring fair pay, including at least the London Living Wage, and fostering workforces that reflect London’s diverse communities at all levels. By helping more Londoners from underrepresented backgrounds access quality jobs and implementing measures to attract, train, and retain a diverse workforce, we aim to create inclusive opportunities across our organisations. We also work to improve life chances for disadvantaged young Londoners through quality mentoring programmes.

Goals:

  • Close gender, ethnicity and disability pay gaps.

  • Secure living-wage jobs for Londoners.

  • Increase apprenticeships and supported internships.

  • Attract and retain a diverse workforce by changing recruitment practices and embedding healthy workplace cultures.

  • Champion flexible working across all sectors.

  • Bring opportunities to those underrepresented in the workforce - for example prison leavers.

Impact

  • London’s anchor organisations have transferred unspent apprenticeship levy funds to small businesses to create more earn-as-you-learn opportunities in the city.

  • This is the number of employees who have had their pay increase to the London Living Wage.

  • By achieving the Good Work Standard, employers of all sizes and sectors signal their commitment to healthy, fair and inclusive workplaces.

  • This is the number of earn-as-you-learn early career opportunities created by anchor organisations committed to increasing apprenticeships in London.

  • This programme was part of the Mayor's ongoing commitment to provide positive opportunities for young people and tackle the underlying causes of crime. LAIN members contributed to the programme’s success in the city through our Mentoring Young People working group.
